According to The Sun, the actor has returned to the UK from Bulgaria, and is now seeking treatment. A rep for Leslie is quoted as telling the publication: "It's true that Leslie is very poorly." Leslie's friends and family are said to be rallying around the actor in his time of need. Leslie earned nationwide fame in 1985, after landing the role of Dennis Watts in BBC One's new soap opera EastEnders, which premiered in February of that year. The star earned the nickname of Dirty Den, and ran The Queen Vic pub alongside his wife Angie, portrayed by Anita Dobson, 69. Infamous for their arguments, the couple adopted Sharon, who Den famously referred to as "princess". Following a successful stint on the show, Leslie's character was killed off in 1989, with a body believed to be Den's found in the canal near Walford. However, over a decade later, viewers had the shock of their lives as Dirty Den sensationally returned from the dead in 2003. After two more years of wreaking havoc on Albert Square, Watts finally met his maker, as his three ex-girlfriends united to kill him, burying him under his beloved Queen Vic pub. As well as causing a stir on-screen, Leslie also made headlines for his behaviour away from the BBC set. Ahead of landing his breakthrough role in EastEnders, former British Army member Grantham served ten years in prison, after he was convicted of killing a taxi driver in Germany. In 2004, during the height of his soap comeback, a newspaper printed photos of the actor exposing himself via a webcam video chat. The disgraced star also reportedly spoke badly of a number of his cast mates while unknowingly corresponding with an undercover reporter online. Daily Star Online has contacted Leslie Grantham's representative for comment.
