'Paris Is Burning' (1990)
Genre: Documentary

I cannot stress this enough: Paris Is Burning is one of the greatest, most iconic LGBTQ documentaries ever created! It introduced the world to the underground culture of drag balls and voguing —  amongst many, many other things.

In it, you meet legendary House Mothers and some of the most unforgettable people — who, though they had nothing, would turn up at these balls and indulge in the fantasy of high fashion and wealth. People who — when their families rejected them — found each other and created families for themselves. Not only is this documentary well over 25 years old, it still reigns as an inspiration within the community and pop culture, directly responsible for inspiring shows like FX's Pose
