Quikpik 3

If you’ve checked out my “Active Plug-ins”:http://thebombsite.com/plugins list you will know that I use a few here and there. Quikpik won’t appear on that list because a) it’s for the admin side and b) it’s not a true plug-in. That doesn’t mean it’s difficult to install though. Version 3 now comes with it’s own installer so there are no excuses for getting this one wrong. Some of the images required for Quikpik need transparent backgrounds so there are about half-a-dozen images to over-write, one TXP file to over-write (though you should check for any hacks you may already have done) plus the installer file. Point your browser at the installer, hit the button and it’s done. Now log in to admin and see what you can see. WP users read ‘em and weep.

Nice eh? The installer will also create a quikpik section though there is no need to mess with your htaccess or create a placeholder. The only reason for this is to enable you to easily change from one style to another and as you can see it comes with 3 included. The CSS are loaded into the database so you can edit them in the usual way if you wish. The options across the top of the page allow you to go directly to an individual article, style, page template or form template and the Quikpik menu allows you to go to the various areas within TXP. Saves quite a lot of navigation time. All-in-all an excellent upgrade to what was already a very useful add-on.
