PathStats
Sometimes you get the odd surprise in your email. I was checking through mine a couple of nights ago, removing spam, deleting spam, bouncing spam, reading the odd email, you know, the usual thing, when I came upon an email from someone I didn’t know. It was properly addressed to me and mentioned a plug-in for ShortStat which as you probably know is relevant to me so to all intents and purposes it looked pukka.
I wasn’t taking any chances though so as I was viewing my email whilst it was still on the server using MailWasher, I clicked the link in the mail and went and had a look at this plug-in. Well it turns out that everything was pukka and I now have PathStats loaded into my ShortStat set-up and I’m trying to figure out why I haven’t heard of this before. It’s wonderful. It uses information gathered by ShortStat (which you will still be able to use normally) and puts it into a nice, simple visual format.
So what does PathStats from Jehiah do? Well rather than give you a screen-shot I thought I’d load it up and let you have a look at it live. If you go to my Guestblock page (and don’t forget to leave a block) you will find an extra menu item “Spy”. Just click on it and watch. You will be there too of course. If you hover your mouse over the little coloured icons they tell you which pages your visitor has been to, and search strings are recorded and shown too. Don’t forget that this is live so refresh the page every-so-often to watch the progression. It can show you search-engine bots as well but I have switched them off in this set-up.
I don’t know about you but I think this is an excellent addition to ShortStat and I think Shaun ought to seriously think about adding this into the next upgrade.
