New Desktop

OK. So I’m trawling through Brian’s blog over at chordaltheory.net (do go have a look) and he’s talking about LiteStep and GeoShell. He suggested I check out his "writings" page which I did and I found my way over to the LiteStep web site. Wow. Now anything that reduces my dependance on Microsoft is a God send to me (you may have spotted my discontent throughout my site). So I downloaded Omar’s installer and plugged it in. Really nice. Comes with one of Omar’s own themes. I then spotted that Omar has his own site so I chugged over there and found synchronicity. This theme rocks. Now you’re all probably wondering what LiteStep is. Well it’s a shell that replaces the explorer shell in Windows – so basically it gives you a brand new desktop and all that goes with it like menus, taskbar, clock etc, not just wallpaper. You can still switch back to Windows if you want so there’s no harm just trying it out is there? It’s free and it uses less resources than Windows too. Who the hell would want to switch back anyway? I might put this up on one of the software pages with a screenshot so you can see just how different it is.

Just returning the compliment. A fine site. A new desktop for Windows?
Bring it on!

Thankyou. I\'ve been using it for about 3 days now and I\'m just getting used to it. It does take a while but I feel it\'s worth it. There are others around such as GeoShell so have a good look before you plump for anything. :!: I\'ve put LiteStep on my miscellaneaous software page with screenshot if you want a better look.
