New Design

If you hadn’t noticed there’s a new design going on around here somewhere. I’ve started with the Blog and it’s off-shoots and I shall gradually migrate it all over the place. That means that if you surf the site a bit you are going to see 2 different styles for a while. Hope that doesn’t disturb you too much.

The new style brings back the mushroom cloud theme that I started with way back when, but now I think it’s a little more serious, maybe more sinister than it has been for some while. Also there is rather more technique involved than I used to have.

Let me know what you think.

Wow! I love the color scheme and the image!! You are definitely Ground Zero for design and technical web ideas! (By jove, I think I just came up with a new site motto for you, buddy!)

Looks wonderful, Stuart!!

Hey Stu, Nice colour and layout. Nice big text and easy to read over the blue. Simple and right to the point. Nice.

The mushroom cloud does cast a lot of attention to the fact that the Americans unloaded 2 atomic bombs on Japan 60 years ago August 1945. Most of the Cable channels on TV are putting little clips and promoting that event. This website must be attracting the attention of many international agencies around the world. So I’m sure your website must be getting extra hits becuase of this… he he he. Ground zero at least has great seats!

Well spotted Tom. I don’t know if I’m getting any extra visits because of it though I get enough anyway. I’ve always wanted to get a decent mushroom in there somewhere, but the 60th anniversary last week was certainly a good prompt for getting the design done.

Love the colours and layout Stuart. Really, really nice.

The best bit – the way that top ‘t’ in ‘the’ just sits perfectly on the edge ofthe cloud.

In fact, I would go as far as to say that I think this design just explodes the previous into oblivion…

Much much better than all that white (not that it looked bad, I’m just not a raving fan of white).

The image sets it off very nicely, well done. :)

Thank you Shadow. :) You realise that now you have mentioned it I won’t be able to alter that text?
21 August 2005, 15:04
I’ve kept the textboxes nice and white for you Zenith.

Very nice indeed Stuart. Love the colours and graphic. Very easy upon the eye too. Well done matey

Cheers Joss. :)

I like your new layout :D
22 August 2005, 19:13
Thank you Myisha. How’s your own doing?
22 August 2005, 23:29
Love the new design, Stuart! :) The background is different from yesterday.
23 August 2005, 00:52
Thank you. The other background was considered a little noisey when scrolling. :)
23 August 2005, 01:24
You changed the bg again. This one doesn’t tile well though.
23 August 2005, 18:02
Ooooh I like this striped one.
23 August 2005, 18:03
So do I. It has all the right hues in there. It’s a long 50px tall section of the cloud compressed to 1px tall. Looks rather good doesn’t it? How about the little monograms?
23 August 2005, 18:09
I find them a little distracting. I keep thinking they’re clickable buttons. But they’re purdy!
23 August 2005, 18:47
I do like mother natures mushroom soup, I used to do those things for a living – yes sinister!
I like both looks, new and old, can’t decide which is best.
26 August 2005, 17:03
Well you’ll probably see both for a while Rick till I decide what to do with the Guest Block styling. :)
26 August 2005, 17:55
ooh, very nice :)
28 August 2005, 22:36
Thank you Katy. :)

Very nice. But when I tabbed from the ‘website’ box it shot me up to the top of the page!

I like the color scheme and the positioning/contrasting of the background image. Stripes are good too.
1 September 2005, 11:52
Oh tabbing now are we? Who said you could do that? I haven’t actually looked at that yet webjones but as soon as I’ve re-sized the images that are now slightly too big I shall get onto it. I want to set them to a specific order anyway so now’s my chance. :)
1 September 2005, 14:18
I think that should have sorted it.
