Internet Explorer Wiki

Did you know that Microsoft have their own Wiki and that it has a section specifically for IE ? No, neither did I, but they have and it’s here. Mind you, one thing I will say about Microsoft is that they are a very professional company (products aside) and they always want to know what you think. That’s why you should leave your little missives on their wiki.

This is way above my level of "web awearness" and I can only guessssssss; that it is the same argument as open-source vrs Micro-Soft's domination of U-Pay software. I mean if you want to have set standards, I would rather have them set by an impartial, broad representive body, having nothing to with "product pushing and selling them" to gain, for only one small clique.

Of course, that is where my Libral stance ends: economics should not be the deciding factor of setting standards. (Am I'm on the wave here?)

Oh, I got the text problem fixed on my poll.php... ...and yes, it could be tea?

I think economics does come into play if someone is trying to corner the market. Otherwise free and total access for all with no strings attached should be the determining factors and for that you need across-the-board standards so everyone sees things properly and can exclude whatever they like and include only what they want. And to cure the rest of the planet I would suggest......

Stuart, if you want to see a really cool POLL, you should go here: http://flatplanet.ws/ I saw some of his comments on the WP Hacks site. He has his set up so you can view the archives of all passed POLLS with resaults. Very cool indeed when you click on that little feature! I guess he was waiting to see if GammerZ was going to do further work on his WP Plug-in, but "Armitage" from Flatplanet said that he would go ahead and hack it anyway.

Oh, he [Armitage] fixed the little problem with the cookie. He has it set-up now, that if you tried to re-vote with your FWD button, you get a nasty message::twisted:

I went and had a look. Yes very nice and I liked the overall site layout too. Haven't had a look through the WP forum though I'm sure I'll catch his comments at some point. I'm bound to want something answering soon. I seem to have had a couple of weeks of "not needing help". Can't last.

Ya, I'm going to ask Armitage if he wouldn't mind showing off his new hack for the archives and cookie problems in POLLS.PHP , perhaps he has also changed the plug-in in the ADMIN WP page to:?:

But ya, he does have a nice site, ... he uses alot of tables outside of PHP... I did a XHTML validation and he had no errors:think: so he does know somthing about it... or lucky... he he he....:shhh:

Well tables are perfectly acceptable for validation, the big debate about them is how they are used. The concensus seems to be that tables should only be used for the presentation of tabular data and not used for positioning purposes. I can't disagree with that. I use tables for the division standings on my Gulls page, the game schedule for the Devils which is so big it has it's own page though not at the moment and the wallpaper galleries. I believe there are ways of doing the galleries in pure CSS but I haven't studied it yet. The other two uses are valid as they are tabular data formats. I reckon I'll still be learning this stuff in my coffin. :hithead:

Oh boy, you should validate my page right now..... I counted or it did, 52 errors:!: Some of which, the more I played with, the more errors I got, like those little headers inside each of the two menu-boxes. I used only CSS to put the menu-boxes together, but I'm traped as to get them validated? Now I'm starting wonder if I should leave it alone and hope "most" of the browsers out there can see what I see.....:wall:

Oooooooooh.... I see you got the "Weather Plug-in" installed! Can you get a graphical representation too:?: Judging by the temp. it must be nighttime overthere right now ..he.he...

Stuart
I'll come over and have a look tomorrow. It is getting late as you say. The weather plugin I'm using doesn't have graphics. It's not the same one everyone else is using.

Oh my. A double footer :) Absolutely beautiful and a very creative solution to the naff clearer div conundrum. This does it for me :)
