Free Music
The Beethoven downloads that I posted about last have been doing great apparently. Something like 600,000 plus requests for download. Can’t be bad methinks. But others are moaning about it. Some commercial commentators are complaining about the BBC giving away classical music for free. The BBC countermand this by explaining that this is just an experiment and not something they intend to do on a permanent basis.
Why not say I? It occurs to me that copyright only lasts for 50 years and, let’s be frank, most classical composers have been dead a hell of a lot longer than that. So why shouldn’t it be free?
Well probably because too many of us peasants will get our hands on it and it won’t be so elitist any more. I do think some of these educated types talk a load of bollocks at times. Well most of the time actually.
