FireFox 1.0PR

Yet another step closer to browser perfection as Mozilla releases FireFox version 1.0 Preview Release. There is also a new Thunderbird with the release of version 0.8.

A new section has been added to the website as well with the creation of Spread FireFox otherwise known as SFX and there are new banners and buttons for you to use to promote the best browser available.

One minor consideration to take into account. Some of the extensions have not yet been updated to be compatible with version 1.0PR which includes the popular Web Developer extension. If you use this extensively you may consider waiting to upgrade until a new version of the extension is available. Otherwise just go for it!!

So what’s new? Well I haven’t had time to have a good look yet but I did spot a new option in the FireFox Tools menu to Read Mail and there is a small RSS button that appears on the status bar when you visit a site with an RSS link. There is added RSS support in Thunderbird too.

The address bar also changes colour and font when on a secure site which is quite neat.

I have these extensions working fine:
Gmail notifier
Status bar date/time
Web Developer
Mouse Gestures
Single Window
TinyUrl
Cute menus
Bugmenot

The userChrome.css also seems to have undergone a few changes.
I had errors until I also deleted by setting inside /Application Data which was a pain but par for the FF course.

Well it won’t let me use Outliner, Webdeveloper and IEview. Says they are not compatible and I can’t find any updates for them. Just loaded Sage though. Looks rather good. I spotted your post re: overwriting but I usually delete then re-install anyway.

My Page rank, Spellbound and Calendar extensions are all working fine.

I’m trying to figure out how to upgrade properly.. I’ve heard so many conflicting comments about if I should do a clean install, an uninstall or an over install…

Guys… I need HELP!!!

it looks fine… Ok, so I’ve finally done my upgrade… BUT… Your site doesn’t show the RSS button, nor does SAH II, but Lily’s site does… this confuses me emensly. Please explain, please and thank you =-)

I can’t really say. It may be that mine is 0.92 whereas Lily’s will be 2.0. Don’t know what SETI uses. Or it could be something to do with aggregating. Don’t ask. I haven’t found out for myself yet. Anyway if you want to link up just right-click on the feed link and copy link location from the pop-up menu then paste it into your reader. Have you installed Sage?
