Coincidences

Today has been one of those odd days where I see connections all over the place.

First of all it’s my “signing-on” day which, for the benefit of those visitors from outside the UK, is something we Brits have to do every 2 weeks when we are unemployed in order to qualify for state benefits. As I left the woman who deals with my case said she would see me in 2 weeks time and I said “Maybe”. Anyway that was at 10:15am.

Next I have to walk up to “Breathing Space” which is where I did my training for self-employment and mentoring. It’s also where I met my Angel. They needed me to fill out some forms and stuff but whilst I was there I was chatting about being out of work and my old job.

Then I headed over to “Biscom” which is a job club. They help you to sort out a CV and look for suitable jobs. I was previously attending Biscom when they found me my last job. I’ve only just started here and today I was supposed to be having an interview to assess my needs and develop an action plan, however one of the tutors was on holiday and the other extremely busy so it didn’t happen. Oh dear, what a shame.

I headed back into town and hopped on a bus to go home. One of the girls who works for my old employer was also on the bus and we got chatting about old times until we arrived at my stop.

This afternoon my interview for TXPq magazine was published and, if you read it, you will see that I mention that I am looking for part-time employment.

At 4:12pm this afternoon my phone rang. It was my old employer. He offered me a part-time job starting next week.
