Author Information

I enjoy working with HTML, XHTML, CSS and designers as a web developer. At home I enjoy listening to music, playing music, reading and food.

Beethoven

Despite my obvious rock credentials I also have a love of classical music. I’m well into Mozart and Wagner but to me Beethoven is the Godfather of rock. I’m sure if he had been alive today he would have been a Rock Legend Superstar just like me.

Anyway, I mention this because BBC Radio 3 this month are performing and broadcasting all of Beethoven’s works and are offering the performances of his symphonies as MP3 downloads. They are mostly in the 30MB range though longer ones such as his 3rd may come in at around 50MB. I still feel that this is within the scope of a dial-up connection if that is what you have and you really want them. You will have to get on with it though as they are only available for a specified time span so get on over there and download them. The first 5 are currently on-line.

Update

Only 2, 4 and 5 are now available and only until Tuesday 14th June so I should hurry up.

Actually Phu, you might want to check out my new TXP Systems Info in my Layouts menu option.

Very nice

Out of curiosity, how is that info maintained? Is it automagically kept up to date or is it a manual process?
10 June 2005, 09:08
It’s maintained in the database as part of the file upload/download facility with the exception of the creation/modification dates which I believe are taken directly from the file. Files can be categorised just like images or articles which is how I can produce a separate list for TXP Systems. I also have a modified file.php file from Greenrift that allows me to overwrite an existing file which is not an available facility in the main core code. Yet. If you read the thread in the “Announcements” forum you will spot that I am trying to get some clarification on certain points and maybe the odd extra facility that I would find useful. After all, this is probably the most-used TXP download site at the moment. Talk about giving it a good beta-testing.

I like classical music, but the only classical that I own is Nigel Kennedy’s rendition of the Four Seasons (which I love).

Moonlight Sonata is mesmerising to me, but is the only Beethoven that I know. Will download this too, thanks for the link. :)
