thebombsite Facelift

Well it has been a while since I even posted here but I’ve just finished installing a re-design which uses Andreas’ latest theme, Blue Sky, as it’s basis. I am also using this site as the demo for the theme so I shall go through the changes I have made to the original which you may find useful.

The site makes extensive use of the Pretty Photo light-box clone and the innerfade script which are jQuery-based. These are used to produce the “slider” on the front-page displaying my theme ports, the fade effect when hovering on a theme image on the Themes [...]

Textpattern 4.0.7

The latest and greatest version of Textpattern was released about a week ago. (Yes I’m a bit late with this but hey, I try.) There are the usual bug-fixes along with several new tags and some radical re-coding.

The re-coding is down to the new tag parser. It now allows “tags-within-tags” without the need for a plug-in. In fact you can have “tags-within-tags-within-tags-etc” to (as far as I am aware) an unlimited depth with the correct escaping of the tags. You can also “nest” the same tag within itself ie:-

blah blah
<txp:else />
blah blah
</txp:if_section>
</txp:if_section>

New tags include <txp:variable> and <txp:if_variable> which, along with the [...]

On my XAMPP install I have tried installing numerous applications. Most of them, when I log in to the admin and nose around for a bit, I think to myself “bugger this for a bunch of flightless ducks” and immediately delete the damn thing. ExpressionEngine (EE) and Symphony are the only two to get past the “nose around” [...]

We Have Touchdown

So after 5 days of messing around on my XAMPP install mixed in with working for a living I give you my latest Bomb Site design. Hope you like it.

I’ve kept it pretty simple but tried to ensure good coding. It should be pretty readable. (I can read it!) There are one or two little surprises dotted around. I’ll leave you to find them.

As is my normal habit I shall no doubt mess around with the odd detail until I am truly satisfied but I am pretty happy with it as it stands. Do let me know if you have any problems.

You may [...]
